Mark Zuckerberg Gives Away 99% Of Shares $45 Billion To Charity After The Birth Of His New Child

Mark Zuckerberg is one of the founders of Facebook, a social network that is connecting many millions of individuals around the world.

Although he is often in the news, Mark Zuckerberg is now once again being talked about as he has decided to give away 99% of the Facebook shares that he owns with his wife. The shares are currently worth over $45 billion and what Mark Zuckerberg plans to do, is give the shares to the charities that can help young individuals who are now developing within the world.

The couple decided to do this after the birth of their new daughter, and have said to have been inspired by this event.

Mark Zuckerberg and Dr. Priscilla Chan are married with a newborn child and this has led them to think about the child in the future. It is for this reason why they are starting an organization known as the Zuckerberg initiative which will be designed to help them manage the large amount of money that they are going to be giving away, and this is built around a corporate structure of limited liability.

A few weeks before Max's birth, Priscilla and I took a morning to reflect and record our hopes for her and all children of her generation. It will be deeply meaningful to show this to her one day. I'll share more soon.

The focus of this organization will be to help cure diseases, focus on learning that is personalized, as well as thinking about ways in which to connect people and build stronger communities. This focus of plans on charities shows that Zuckerberg and his Philanthropy interests have become more and more strong over recent years.

Many billionaires that are based in and around Silicon Valley are also getting interested in philanthropy and are keen to share their wealth whilst they are still at a young age.

However, this is a huge operation and many individuals are not yet sure as to how the Zuckerbergs will manage the large amount of money that they are planning to give to charity.

Priscilla and I are so happy to welcome our daughter Max into this world! For her birth, we wrote a letter to her about...
