It has far surpassed the number of people who ‘liked’ a photo posted by Kylie Jenner so much they committed to a double-tap in their droves – 18.2 million Instagram users to be precise – in order to give their seal of approval

Egg Gang’s account @world_record_egg first published the egg photo on January 4, just four days into 2019, with the mission of surpassing Jenner’s viral superstardom.

In just under 10 days, by the morning of Sunday January 13, the egg had around 9 million likes; within 10 hours that number had doubled, breaking Jenner’s record.
The egg appeared to be getting around a million likes per hour once it started going mega-viral on Sunday.
Well, how’s that for completing a New Year’s resolution in break-egg speed and going down in Internet history just for egging on a viral revolution.
It’s become such a powerful symbol, this little egg has warranted a response from a presumably shell shocked Kylie Jenner herself in a Snapchat video enough to make any egg’s yolk boil. Literally.
A mere 10 hours ago, at time of writing, Kylie responded by cracking one of the World Record Egg’s living relatives open, spilling its guts out onto the hot Calabasas cement paving outside her Hidden Hills home.
The plan was hatched and evilly egg-xecuted.
