Have you ever met people who pick their nose and eat boogers? Well, scientists have come up with new findings that boogies are actually good for teeth and improving general body health.
Similar to probiotics, boogers have also been discovered to have good bacteria.
As a matter of fact, a couple of universities including Saskatchewan and Harvard are advising all guardians and parents to encourage their young ones to eat boogers instead of doing vice versa. It’s because boogers entail substantial amounts of good bacteria which is very beneficial.
Recently, there was a publication on the American Society of Microbiology that highlighted how snot plays a big role in dental health.
The article explained how it eliminates possibilities of bacteria sticking on teeth. As we speak, doctors are now focusing on coming up with a synthetic mucus toothpaste and chewing gum. The two will offer numerous dental benefits to the users.
More so, the research also brings to attention that boogers can aid prevent respiratory conditions, ulcers, and HIV.
Dr. Scott Napper, a biochemistry professor at the University of Saskatchewan, shed more light on this new development.
He explained how nature provides us with a driving force to eat or behave in a certain way. In this case, he referred to how nature pushes some people to eat snot.
In his argument, he continued to describe that it’s always best to let nature take its course. In other words, he justified the act of picking and eating boogers.
In his explanation, he elaborated on how the human being species evolved from dirty conditions. And the fact that we are trying to change our true nature isn’t working out for us.
Professor Friedrich Bischinger, a lung specialist and a contributor to the study also had the same opinion.
He also described how beneficial it is to eat boogers especially in improving the immune system. Moreover, he complimented the people who pick their noses by saying that they are a healthy and happy lot who are in sync with their bodies.
